We finished performing mologues last Tuesday but i performed on Monday. Now it is time for the reflecting! As i described in my previous post my monologue was an interpretation of a D&D adventure that i took my character on. The first thing i can note is that i had a little trouble before i even performed. i had written the script, then re-wrote it and so i had just barely finished it before we were to perform. I had a little time to memorize my lines so i utilized my memory for part of the monologue. However, i have a problem that when i have several things floating in my head and i get caught off guard i tend to freeze up, i need time to reorganize my thoughts, as proven during the game story story die. So right at the begging i forget to say the last words of the very first lines of my script!!! That threw me off and I got all mixed up causing my performance to become more scattered and less fluid. I had some really great lines that i missed and that makes me disappointed. I also did not have time to create proper blocking so i was making it up on the fly. I can think quickly when I am making things up as I go, but i get scatter-brained when I am trying to remember something on the fly. My favorite comment I recieved was, “I really liked the story it seemed well thought out and was very interesting.” All in all i liked the monologues despite being nervous to perform.
Excellent journal entries. Make sure that you extend your reflections to include what you learned about the process and what changes you might make in the future.
Okay, I will remember the process for next time.
